Students with dyslexia are often bright but struggle with reading and writing. Without the right support, school and homework may be challenging for them.

You may notice that your child:

  • Has difficulty sounding out words
  • Reads slowly or inaccurately
  • Guesses at words
  • Struggles with spelling
  • Avoids reading or becomes easily frustrated
  • Performs below grade level in reading
  • Confuses similar-looking letters or words

If the above challenges sound familiar, your child may benefit from specialized dyslexia tutoring.

How We Help: The Orton Gillingham Method

Homework help or general tutoring is rarely enough for students with dyslexia. We use the Orton Gillingham method, a research-based approach for helping students with dyslexia improve their reading and spelling skills.

Our instruction is:

  • Multi-Sensory:
Students use the visual, auditory, and tactile modalities when learning to read effectively.
  • Structured and Sequential:
Skills are taught in a logical order, from simple to complex concepts.
  • Individualized:
Instruction is customized to your child's academic levels and unique needs.
  • Diagnostic and Prescriptive:
We continue to assess the methodologies and pace of instruction based on how your child responds.
At Knowledge Plus Tutoring, we begin with an initial assessment to determine your child's specific skill levels and areas of need. For the tutoring sessions, we use multi-sensory tools to make learning to read a positive and successful journey.
